Planning your Nevis vacation
A
tender side hides behind this island’s regal veneer. Nevis, known
as the grandiose “Queen of the Caribbees,” operates much like a humble
hideout for peace-seeking tourists. Nevis hotels - coupled with the
marvelous revival of old plantation houses - helps the small, volcanic
island maintain sophistication. However, its real beauty lies within
miles of rolling hills and glowing beaches. Beach nuts tend to find
contentment sunbathing along the palm-strewed fringes of Nevis’ most
popular beach, Pinney, which is just outside of Charlestown. You can
do whatever your heart desires in Nevis, but many prefer to spend
a week of relaxation at Charlestown’s luxurious Four Seasons Hotel;
the site of an 18-hole golf course. Nevis, at 5.5 miles wide and 8
miles long, is a vacationer’s dreamland. If you wish, hop aboard a
commuter boat for a trip to its cuddling, sister island - St. Kitts.
It is just minutes away.
Travel Tips
The
beaches at Nevis are its main attraction, so beach safety is of
utmost importance for vacation planners. Be sure to wear sunscreen
with a high SPF, as the sun can be quite intense, even on cloudy
days. Reapply after swimming, activity, or after several hours on
the beach. While you want to return home with a great tan, a bad
sunburn can put a damper on your vacation. Build your tan slowly
during your stay. Many areas along the beaches are patrolled by
lifeguards, and families with young children would be advised to
frequent these.
Nevis
is a very safe place to visit, but visitors should use common sense.
Don’t leave valuables in your vehicle, or on the beach unattended.
Numerous banks are located throughout the islands which offer currency
exchange, and ATM’s are plentiful. |
